Sweater Wrap

I finally completed my sweater wrap that I have been working on for a few weeks now. It wouldn't have taken me so long if I hadn't been distracted by other projects (like the socks from my previous post).
I love the pattern and the results are absolutely beautiful, but even after blocking it still curls because of the stockinette stitch. I still love it though! The pattern is easy and can be memorized fairly quickly after only a few rows, I would recommend it to anyone. It's a free pattern from the Michaels website that can be found here.

I also knitted a present as a surprise for someone who's birthday is coming up soon. It's a neck warmer in a great lace pattern. I found the pattern in the book "Luxury Yarn One-Skein Wonders". It is an amazing book that I would recommend to anyone. There are a few crochet patterns in it too but it is mostly for knitters. Every project in it is beautiful (and there are just over 100!) and I would love to knit all of them (except for the tie... wouldn't do that one). After giving the person their present I will be posting a picture of it.

My First Pair of Socks

I've wanted to challenge myself with something new for a while now. I never tried using DPNs before so I knew that knitting a pair of socks would be a challenging project. So when I was at Chapters and I saw a sock knitting kit I got excited and I casted on the same night. The kit came with the yarn, the needles and 6 patterns. There are some great patterns in the book but I started with the simple rib socks. It took me about 5 days to finish the pair and here they are!
It was a challenge, but it was fun and the results are great. I love them.

Plunging into Amigurumi!

So I was bored of knitting the same old stuff... hat, scarf, hat, blanket, scarf... so I wanted to try something new. What else to do then to try my hand at some Amigurumi? I started with knitting some hearts that were a free pattern for charity that can be found here. I know this isn't really amigurumi but I wanted to start off with something simple that wasn't going to take to much time...

Another one I named Mr. Poopy Pants. It's J's little doll. The pattern for this little guy can be found here. I did him flat and with slightly bigger needles and yarn. Love him! Super cute.

So after finishing that little guy I wanted to do more cute animals, so what else to do then go to Chapters and buy a book full of great patterns! I will be starting those as soon as I get some time.

I also started knitting a pair of socks! I bought a kit at Chapters and I'm already finished the first sock and have started on the second. I love a new challenge and figuring out how to do the socks was great fun. I will be posting a picture as soon as they are done.

So much to do!

As always, I have at least 3 projects on my needles and at least 10 in my head that I want to do.
The project that seems to be taking me the most amount of time is my Cabled Blanket. I think I've been working on it for at least 2 months and I'm still not half way done yet... I think it's because the weather has been so nice, I don't want to be knitting a blanket at the moment.
The next project is m Texture and Lace scarf from the winter Vogue knitting magazine. It's absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to have it done. I didn't have enough yarn to finish it so I had to order more in and it arrived on Monday. The yarn has been discontinued and I was able to find an extra ball on e-bay, but it's the last one. I believe that I'll have enough to finish, but I'm not sure and that fear is holding me back from finishing it.
The other project that I just started on 2 days ago is a free pattern my boss picked up while she was shopping at Michaels and she passed a copy on to me. She's actually knitting the same one right now. It's a Sweater Wrap so it's going to take me a bit longer to finish because it's so big (16"x64") but I've been moving quite fast on it, so I might have it done in the next weeks.
As for the projects that I would like to do in the future, it changes from day to day and depending on which website or magazine I'm looking at at the time.
Until next time, Happy Knitting!

Universal Scarf

The pattern for the Universal Scarf is in the new Interweave Knits Spring 2010. It's the perfect pattern to try out with new yarns and to dress up. After finishing the scarf, I thought it was a bit too plain to be worn as is, so I found a pattern for some beautiful flowers and I added them to it. VoilĂ ! It's perfect.
The pattern for the flowers can be found here .
The yarn I used was given to me: Eaton Superba Sayelle. I don't even think you can buy it anymore.

I'm waiting on the yarn I ordered from e-bay to finish the textured scarf that I started two weeks ago. It's coming from somewhere in the U.S. so I have no idea how long it's going to take to get here. I hope it's soon.

I've started making up a pattern for some other yarn that was given to me. I wrote out a chart for a scarf, but I have no idea if it's going to come out like I've imagined it.

Until next time, Happy knitting!

Baby Blanket

Here is the baby blanket I knitted for a first birthday! It took me a while, since I knit every letter of the alphabet individually and then knit 6 additional squares to make it even. It was done with Vanna's Choice Baby, in little boy blue, aqua and white. I also used some fern to sow it all together. I was very pleased with the results. I got the patterns from knittingknonsense.com. It took me two months to complete and a lot of hair pulling and frustration, I never thought it would be done. But I did get it done in time, and here it is!

I also knitted another hat for Jason, this time with a pom-pom.

Project Completed!

So I finally put the finishing touches on the lazy day lace shawl. I got the pattern from www.marykeenanknits.com . It took me a lot longer to complete then it was supposed to, but it's done just in time for spring. And what a beautiful spring day it is today! The little snow we had is melted and it's actually quite warm out right now. Great day to take pictures.

Hopefully I will be able to upload the pictures of the birthday present I knitted soon.
